DIY bookshelf and some favorite reads

April 1, 2016

We have A LOT of books floating around our house.  Trying to figure out the best method of organization is a constant struggle.  A while back my husband decided to tackle a little project for my daughter's room.  Now he is quite a handy guy and just seems to get things, but he had never built anything before.  It took a little time, but we have been so happy with the results.  I finished it with a coat of Annie Sloan chalk paint in Duck Egg Blue.  Isn't chalk paint the best?!?

It's the perfect height so little ones can easily pull books in and out, which makes for effortless cleanup, even for a three year old.... not that she actually ever does it.  If you are interested in the plans, click HERE for the link.  If you like the design, but don't want to bother building it, you can always cough up some extra dough and shop HERE for the exact same thing sold at Land of Nod.
;-)

Since we are on the topic of books, I thought I would share a few of my daughter's current favs....

1)  Nutcracker by Mary Engelbreit  ***It's a Christmas book, but it is by far her favorite book all year
2)  Little Critter series by Mercer Mayer
3)  Imogene's Antlers by David Small
4)  Pinkalicious series by Victoria Kann
5)  Fancy Nancy collection by Jane O'Connor
6)  Uni the Unicorn by Amy Krouse Rosenthal

  1. Love your bookshelf...your husband did a great job! I like your color better than the inspiration one plus it is extra special to have one built by dad.
